Term: MICROPHONE LEVEL
When we speak about microphone level is of output level of the microphone without preamplification. Microphone level is significantly lower than line level, from a few micro volts up to several volts (depending on the sound pressure with which is excited).
– It can be up to -60 dBu (0.0007 VRMS).
It’s necessary that a mic signal is preamplified in order to be used like line level.
