SMPTE 304 connection boxes, volume controllers, panels and optical fiber reels for the Autonomous TV of Aragon
Carlos Martín, from the operation headquarters of the Autonomous TV of Aragon, explains where and how they work with the Pínanson equipment made to measure for this autonomous corporation.
Where have SMPTE 304 panels been installed? What cameras do they connect to?
Pinanson’s SMPTE 304 connection panels provide connectivity between the set boxes and the central Data Center (CPD).
Stages 1 and 2 of the Zaragoza Main Production Center of Aragón TV (Autonomous Television of Aragon) are equipped with cameras using standard SMPTE 304 fiber / copper mixed cabling. These cameras, GrassValley LDX92, are connected via this cabling to the XCUs of the same brand, all installed in the central video CPD. This unified installation makes it possible to centralize and save cabling, share resources between sets and have contingency solutions. To bridge the distance between the sets on the ground floor and the DPC on the first floor, it would have been unfeasible to install finished SMPTE 304 cabling.
Thanks to Pinanson’s SMPTE panels, we have been able to carry out the installation with unfinished SMPTE cabling, carry out the cable run more comfortably and adjust the distances, in addition to allowing minimal variations and changes during installation. Otherwise, it would not have been possible to obtain these advantages.

Where are the Pinanson Volume Controllers installed?
We use Pinanson sound controls to monitor the sound in the performance control. It receives the monitoring signal from the console and the director adjusts the listening volume of the program in the production room according to his needs.
What other brands did you consider before considering Pinanson solutions? Why did you decide to change?
As a public entity, Aragón TV is governed by the Public Sector Contracts Law, in order to achieve better transparency and efficiency in the management of public money. For this reason, all purchases of a certain entity that are made must go to public tender where the best quality / price ratio on the market is sought, for the needs of each moment.
Pínanson has been awarded a multitude of contracts where patching solutions or similar installation elements were required during Aragón TV’s years of operation, which gives an idea not only of the quality of the products, but also of the ability to adapt to the needs of the farm at all times and the adjusted price ratio.
It is worth highlighting the flexibility of Pinanson to design and deliver the type of panel or connection suitable in typology, form factor and place of installation that has been required in each case, offering a huge range of possibilities to be able to satisfy the need in each case.
